Charming Tidbits Part VI
Here’s a quick overview of Minions and Charms.
- School-specific blades. Minions cast blades from their respective schools on themselves and you. I have yet to confirm if they cast blades on friends. Any input from our readers is welcome. If we don’t use it now, we will use it on future columns on minions.
- Guiding Light. The Life school minion liberally casts this charm on friends, which boost the next healing spell cast by the wearer by 30%.
- Hint-Hint! I cannot tell a lie. I have been unable to confirm if, when the Life minion casts a Guiding Light on a student who is not a Theurgist, The Spiral is trying to tell that student to STOP WAITING FOR THE LIFE WIZARD ON YOUR TEAM TO HEAL YOU AND HEAL YOURSELF! But it’s possible! (I will now return to my regular level of snark.) As a Grand Master Theurgist, I can tell you that when friends cast the occasional healing on themselves, it takes some pressure off me. So if a Life minion tosses you a Guiding Light, take it as a hint.
- Buff Your Minion. Study the damage spells cast by your minion. My ice minion (Jack Frost, for those of you who haven’t met him), casts spells from all elemental schools. I cast an elemental blade on him the first chance I get. Let me tell you, Jack never wastes his ice blade with a wand strike like SOME icy queens of The Spiral.
- Your Buff Minion. Buff Minion is a Myth Spell. Zero pips with 100% accuracy in its original form. It boosts the next damage spell cast by your minion by 40%. Your conjurer friends can cast this on YOUR minion if they so choose. Although I haven’t seen it for myself, I’m told on good authority that it stacks with other charms. You can find this card in treasure card form, but as previously mentioned we won’t be using treasure cards in the Winter Wizards Smash & Bash. I would love to see this spell come with equipment or a pet.
- Bull’s Eye! Share your accuracy charms with your minion, especially if you see it’s about to cast a strong damage spell.
- Tidy up! Diviners, don’t forget to cast Cleanse Charm on your minion. If it’s about to cast a Ghoul spell it’s a wonderful thing to get rid of a Weakness blade first.
- Steal This Charm. The Fire minion casts Steal Charm. As explained before, this will remove the boost from an enemy’s spell. Hopefully, your Fire elemental will then cast a damage spell that will be boosted by the charm it stole.
- Mander Balancing Act. A Conjurer’s Mander casts charms as well as damage spells. It only casts Balance damage spells, so if there’s a Mander Minion on your team, save your blades from other schools as well as your Elemental and Spiritual blades.
- Spectacular Spectral Minion. I have played alongside Wolf RedFist several times in the past few days. Wolf is a Master Sorcerer. He’s very skilled with his deck, a good team player, and fun to quest with. He’s helped me a good bit in writing this charms column too! Anyway, Wolf has a Spectral Minion and I think I have a bit of a crush on that spell. Spectral Minions could be Fire, Ice or Storm. Toss out a blade from one of these schools if you see a Spectral Minion on your team, and stack it with an Elemental blade if possible.
