F2P Spotlight: Continuing Our Look at Wizard101
A look at housing, crafting, and microtransactions.

“In this age of growing online socialization, it’s a little surprising how so few MMORPGs offer the single most important social feature: housing. Perhaps it’s because games have traditionally been about competition so the focus has been mostly on combat and the systems that support it. For games like Wizard 101 though, with a target audience that’s more interested in the social aspect of online games–in other words, playing with their friends and showing off stuff they’ve accomplished or acquired–it only makes sense that building and decorating homes is a big part of the experience. Even so, housing was just introduced in Wizard 101 not too long ago, and it’s the first of the tweencentric MMOs to do so. “
